Urban infrastructure is gradually growing from incremental construction into stock transformation and upgrade. The first national ministerial and provincial-level engineering technology center with urban infrastructure renewal as the main research content - “Shanghai Engineering Technology Research Center of Urban Infrastructure Renewal” applied by the company is approved. Relying on the urban infrastructure renewal and intelligent operation and management decision-making consultation expert team of the China Civil Engineering Society, the Center successfully declared for the 2022 decision-making consultation expert team construction test unit of the China Association for Science and Technology, and carries out a research on the megacity infrastructure renewal and intelligent operation mode against the context of digital transformation.

The engineering construction of shield tunnels reflects the comprehensive development level of a nations civil engineering and transportation. Traditional shield tunnels easily result that quality accidents and construction risks occur frequently. Digital shields, combined with the intelligent technology of shields, have very strong advantages in improving the quality, efficiency and safety of tunnel construction. On February 18, 2022, Shanghai Technology Innovation Center of Digital Shield Engineering (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") was established relying on Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd. upon the approval of the Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology.
Relying on the Internet, big data and other new generation of information technologies, the Center is devoted to breaking through core technologies and creating standards for the intelligent construction of shield tunnels to form model machines and realize the industrial application of technologies surrounding the intelligent perception, intelligent cognition, intelligent decision and intelligent control of shield tunnel construction on the basis of the company’s existing massive data of "domestic shield industrialization base" and "shield control center", which greatly improves project quality and shield tunnel drivage efficiency, reduces construction risks to the greatest extent, and constantly promotes the intelligent construction level of shield tunnels.

The safety of urban infrastructure construction and operation is significant for citizens to acquire the sense of achievement, well-being and security. As a large state-owned enterprise in Shanghai, STEC undertakes the full-cycle and full-industry chain services such as investment, design, construction, operation and maintenance of urban construction projects. In order to implement a holistic approach to national security, practice a people-centered approach to development, fend off and defuse major security risks, maintain the harmony and stability of the overall social situation, and ensure coordination in pursuing development and upholding security, STEC establishes a safety science center standing on the forefront of the industry, and carries out comprehensive and forward-looking exploration and research in terms of the safety governance system. The establishment of the center will effectively promote the innovative transformation and safe development of STEC in “the 14th five-year Plan”, improve the safety control capability of the safety management system, promote to form a safety culture, and lead the whole supply chain to achieve “essential safety”.

The founding of the shared service center is an important measure to implement “the 14th five-year plan” strategy of STEC. It aims to help the group upgrade from an “integrated service provider with initial coordination of internal industrial chain” to an “urban construction and operation resource integrator with comprehensive coordination and integration of internal and external resources”, which is an overall plan. The center will give impetus to strengthen the innovation consciousness of the group headquarters, focus on value creation, improve the level of delicacy management, coordinate internal and external resources, and lead the high-quality development of subordinate industries. The establishment of the shared service center will be committed to the centralization, standardization and specialization of services, as well as “sharing” and “service”, so as to achieve economies of scale, integrate the resource layer, and provide resource guarantee for the group’s professional line management.

Technology Innovation Center for Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality was founded by Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd. on December 20, 2022. The establishment of the Technology Innovation Center is a major strategic decision taken by TEC after China announcing the goals to peak its carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and reach carbon neutrality by 2060, which is a huge opportunity for TEC to make a difference by serving on the implementation of China's major strategies, and fully implementing the strategic plans of China’s dual carbon goals. TEC takes its responsibility to guide the innovation in the implementation of carbon neutrality measures standard of urban infrastructure, key technology breakthroughs, etc. Meanwhile, the establishment of the Technology Innovation Center is also an important measure for the community with a shared future for mankind and global sustainable development.

Technology Innovation Center for Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality of TEC aims at leading the development of core low-carbon technologies in infrastructure and new energy fields, and comprehensively enhancing core competitiveness in “Carbon”. To support the present and lead the future, the center adheres the concept of “Break through quickly and “Develop expertise in time”. Based on the five municipal infrastructure fields of TEC, “Green energy, green municipal administration, green construction, green environment and green operation”, the center makes decisions and plans for the main aspects and the main problems of science and technology. With the focus on development strategies and strategic technology trends in the next five years, the center plans to foster new theory, new approach, new technology, new process, and new material (the six news), in order to promote the commercialization of scientific and technological advances.

The new requirement of green, and low-carbon development in urban infrastructure is proposed by the 14th Five-Year plan and China’s dual carbon goals. New material always plays an important role in the construction of “people’s city”, and also reflects the future of the city as an essential application practice carrier. To promote the coordinated development of new material and urban infrastructure industry chain, and support industry reform through material innovation, TEC Technology and Innovation Center for Green and Low-Carbon Material was founded by Shanghai Urban Construction Ltd. (the “center”).
